Review
Murder at an Irish Christmas
is the epitome of a cozy mystery – the small village white Christmas setting could not be cozier. And the mystery? Perplexing, and this time with a personal twist for Siobhan O'Sullivan. Her brother's fiancee's grandfather is the murder victim, and a famous conductor, so the cast of characters includes musicians for a Christmas concert, upping the seasonal flavor.

As with the other books in this series, it is the personal elements and the finely crafted mystery that make Murder at an Irish Christmas such a captivating novel. In this case, it is the dynamics between Siobhan and her soon-to-be in-laws and her fiancé Dara. Siobhan's relationship with Dara is developing authentically; the issues facing the couple will resonate with readers.

Even though Siobhan is a garda in Ireland, this stay-at-home mom in New England can identify with her. The common threads that run through our lives make O'Connor's books so appealing – she reflects and illuminates readers' experiences while engaging our curiosity and deductive reasoning in ingenious murder mysteries. I said it about the other books, and it's worth saying again: I'm loving this series and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

On a more personal note, I misunderstood the publication date for Murder at an Irish Christmas and thought that the upcoming paperback release date was the premier publication date, so my delight at being able to read it NOW was compounded!
