The setting and the characters are most important to me when selecting cozy mysteries. My preferences are the southern US states or Ireland and the sleuths should be young women (I like to solve the mysteries vicariously, and both locations are the perfect blend of exotic and familiar). You can imagine my excitement, I'm sure, when Murder in an Irish Cottage showed up at my door.

This 5th book in the Irish Village series picks up right where the last one ended: Garda Siobhán is balancing her police career with her secret engagement to her boss and with the guardianship of her younger siblings. When her fiancé's aunt is murdered in a small, superstitious village, they both decide to unofficially investigate. Between unwelcoming villagers, a stalker, a peeping Tom, a secret lover, and an abrasive surviving daughter, my suspicions changed as different evidence came to light, and I was surprised in the end. This is an elaborate, but in no way convoluted, whodunit that is perfect for cozy mystery fans, especially ones who like Ireland, faeries, and small village settings, with a bit of romance and family drama tossed in. Murder in an Irish Cottage was thrilling and comfy-cozy all in one. It makes me smile to recommend it to you.
