Miffy and the Impressionists
By Dick Bruna
Published by Thames and Hudson
Mom's Review
Some time ago I reviewed Miffy and the Artists. Miffy and the Impressionists is a companion book that focuses solely on Impressionism, introducing children to artists like Monet, Sisley, and Degas through Miffy. I love how Bruna makes art accessible and relevant to children - he tells a little something about each artist and work in one sentence, then connects Miffy to the painting, and finally asks the reader a question that leads to connection with the painting. This fostering of art appreciation and imagination and knowledge from a young age can only offer the audience a richer experience of the world around them. Miffy and the Impressionists brings an excellent curation of Impressionist works into your child's lap.
