Mom's Review
From the creators of Why do dogs sniff butts?, Why do cats meow? is a treasure trove of cat facts. From meowing, to bringing home kills, to rubbing against you, behaviors you've always wondered about (and those you've never thought about) are explained.  After reading, T was excitedly spouting off various trivia to his dad.

Why do cats meow? is a winner. The text is clear, informative, and engaging. The author's style is conversational without sacrificing content or authority. The illustrations are delightful – T loves picking out the different cute cats that he likes. The author captures cat personalities while maintaining the integrity of a non-fiction book.

Each two-page spread covers a different topic. The illustrations cover the entire spread, with inset text highlighting important things to know. The detailed information is comprehensible to all ages; adults will not find it "dumbed down," and young children will not find it above their heads. It's the kind of non-fiction that makes a great story time for everyone.

Boiled down, Why do cats meow? is awesome. This cat-lover learned a little something (erm, I actually learned a lot), shared a fun story time with her son, and was ultimately thrilled to see how enthusiastic her son was to learn about cats.

Son's Review
(Age: 5)
Mom: What are your thoughts about Why do cats meow?

Son: It reminds me about my kitty friend who lives a few blocks away. I learned that cats don't like water, that his owners don't feed him milk because it makes him sick.

I liked how the cats lick their butt and also about the litter box stuff because it's funny.

It's about kitties meowing. That's what it's about

Mom: What should people expect?

Son:*laughing* They should expect cats fly into outer space.

Okay, I'll tell you the truth. It's that cats scratch on the couch and cause a lot of mischief and that cats hate being around humans when giving birth 'cuz they like their privacy. Cat babies are deaf, and they cannot see, but they can use part of their body to feel their way around
