Rhyming books can be a hit or a miss, and Vlad is Mad is definitely a hit! In this feelings books, we see how little vampire Vlad is consumed by his anger until it comes out physically. His dad accepts his feelings, then helps him pause and calm down so that he stops hitting and biting. The illustrations of the cats and the spiders are particularly endearing in their simplicity and add a level of whimsy to the background. This is a good one to enter the rotation of anger/emotion books to help kiddos recognize ways to manage their feelings, especially this time of year.
