Adorable endpaper! Dawnay and Barrow work some kind of magic, because the If I Had a... series doesn't get old. The bouncy rhythm, the humor, the animal poo! Once again our yellow-capped girl imagines acquiring an unlikely pet; in this instance, a colony of penguins. From taking over the crosswalk with their waddles to commandeering the local water park, the penguins bring a delightful chaos to the girl's daydreams before she drifts off to sleep under a penguin-print bedspread. If I Had a Penguin encourages children to ask that all-important question: What if?
