I love the child's joy in the snow! The onomatopoeic venture into a snow-covered landscape is reminiscent of The Snowy Day - a child waking to a snow-covered neighborhood and reveling in the outdoor experience of snow. It is distinctly different in the focus: the distinct sounds that emanate from the snow when you stomp through, pack together, or lie in it. Think about how the whole neighborhood sounds muffled when you first step outside. Now consider how each individual sound is isolated and heightened as you build that snow fort or make that angel. The Voice of the Snow! brings that wondrous experience to you whether there is snow outside or not. This Japanese import is a delightful read, particularly as we start to look forward to colder weather.
