Watercress

Mom's Review
It is easy to see why Watercress earned the Caldecott Medal and the Newbery Honor. Readers can identify with the narrator's embarrassment, her impatience with her parents, and finally her feelings of guilt. The beautiful paintings accompanying the story of collecting watercress are a blend of Eastern and Western art styles, reflecting the narrator's Chinese heritage and with her American life. Watercress is absolutely stunning and will stand the test of time. Just read it, and you won't regret it!
