Hear Me Roar!: I'm a Hanukkahsuar

I love the play on words throughout! When Miles wears his new dino hoodie, which he received on the first night of Hanukkah, he imagines himself as TEARradactyl who tears tape to wrap presents and a TriceriTOPS who spins a dreidel and an veLATKEraptor who helps with latke batter. However, Miles is a rather rambunctious child who seems to not have the strongest proprioception and causes messes wherever he goes. Each time he knocks something over or misjudges how strongly he should stir, spin, or bite, he immediately jumps to help clean up; his parents and other caregivers welcome the help without censure of his overestimation of needed force.

Hear Me Roar! deftly portrays a child who loves dinosaurs and Hanukkah, all the while modeling a loving, supportive family. I appreciate how young children will see that it is normal for accidents to happen, and the important thing to try and help remedy whatever went wrong. I also particularly like how integral the family's practice of faith is to their life - dinosaurs fit right into Hanukkah. A practice of religion isn't something kept separate and apart from the everyday.
