The Words of the World board book series introduces words thematically. One animal per page is surrounded by words naming it multiple languages and scripts. The beautiful collage illustration of each creature offer enjoyment both for the adult reader and the little one in their lap. While no one expects the children to read the multiple languages, offering each equal word space on the page engenders and appreciation for multilingualism and cultural diversity from the outset. I love the birds and animals included in these two books, and I think the exposure to different languages from the outset paves the way for multilingualism and intercultural appreciation. Also, these board books have a really nice texture! 

I would certainly select these to give a baby!
