Mom's Review
The Night of the Hedgehog is an ode to this sweet European creature. Here in North America we don't get to see the nocturnal insect-eaters in the wild, so a picture book about a little girl and her dad who set out a pan of water for the animals and ensure their yard is traversable is a special treat. Written in rhyming couplets that don't get toooo sing-songy as you read aloud, the story emphasizes the joy we find in observing and safeguarding the natural world. It's a good one for little kids who like nocturnal animals.
