Mom's Review
Nature Knows is eminently relatable - a family gets a bit overwhelmed by daily life and takes time outside to relax and recenter themselves before returning to the daily grind. In addition to the narrative, inset text boxes explain what "nature knows" about us, like how playing in the dirt boosts the human immune system.
I've seen a number of books that encourage kids to get outside, and Nature Knows offers two things I haven't seen before. First, it explains specifically why and how different experience impact us beneficially, and second, the outdoor and indoor experiences are balanced in a realistic and relatable way. Nature Knows gives voice to what we know innately: getting outside feels good. It encourages us to embrace this truth.
