Mom's Review

Just Because
is an ode to the universal experience of bedtime questions and answers. When the child from the cover page asks questions like, "What are black holes?" and, "Why do the leaves change color?" the father leaning in the doorway comes up with answers of dubious veracity, but one answer leads into the next such than when the final question of, "Why do we have to sleep?" is posed, dreams are the answer. A wide angle view of the room shows the source of all the questions: the toys piled in the corner and the books lining the shelves. Just Because is an enchanting bedtime story that invites readers to go off the bedtime track and enjoy that last bit of curiosity (and imagination) at the close of the day. Sturdy, cute, and fun for the parent to read aloud, Just Because is a win for toddler bedtime.
