Grave Flowers was spectacular! Intrigue, mystery, magic, poison, politics...this YA fantasy kept me on the edge of my seat! if you like fantasy that leans a little bit toward dark, read this book about one princess who has to replace her assassinated sister to marry and then kill the prince in the adjoining kingdom and consolidate power, all at her coldhearted father's command. Autumn Krause's novel offers unique, complex, and coherent world-building, which is something that makes a significant impact on how I like my fantasy. I would love to read more that she writes in this world where different royal families have been given different talents by the gods, use them in distinct ways, and have exceedingly divergent cultural practices across their continent. The evolution of the characters as the plot unfolds feels natural, and their relationships fluctuate in believable ways. There were some plot twists that I totally did not see coming and that totally enhanced the novel. Don't worry, I'm not spoiling anything. Just saying that it is a fantastic murder-mystery-fantasy, which I highly recommend.
