Apples for All: A Story about Grafting

Mom's Review
Apples for All is a really cool story about how a girl and her family grow four varieties of apple on a single tree. Bobbi lives on her family's farm that has no apple trees, so she wants to remedy that failing. When she asks her grandpa to plant a seed from the apple she's eating, he explains why that won't work, then takes her to the nursery to obtain an already-grafted tree. After several years of care (spanning just a couple of pages), the family can finally enjoy pie, applesauce, and cider. A quick read, Apples for All is packed with information, inspiration, and encouragement. Bobbi's family supports her goals while ensuring that she takes responsibility for the tree she plants, helping her manage its care and put the first harvest to use as she has dreamed. Back matter offers a recipe for applesauce, her favorite food. Kids interested in planting or where our food comes from will delight in Apples for All. And if you are gardening this summer - perfect fit for that too!
Now I want to go buy apple trees for our backyard...
