Galaxy Mapper
is a brief biography of Helen Courtois, an astrophysicist who discovered that our galaxy is part of a massive continent of shifting galaxies - and mapped the whole thing. The enormity of what she did is stunning, and you will have to read the book. The illustrations and explanatory text lay out for the reader how she made the discoveries and what path she took from childhood in France in the 1980's to coordinating an international team of scientists based at multiple observatories around the globe in 2010's. At once an exciting girl-power story and a fantastic space discovery book, Galaxy Mapper is all the more stunning because it is true! I love how Summers and James make an astrophysicist relatable and expand readers' understanding of the universe in such an engaging way!
