Mom's Review

Barbed Wire Between Us is a moving and timely poem paralleling the Japanese Internment during WWII with the separation of families and imprisonment of immigrant children today. This reverso poem, which back matter explains is a poem that features the same stanzas repeated in different order to tell two different stories, features the tribulations of two little girls illegally imprisoned. The uplifting message, that light will always shine again where there is darkness, the rich illustrations, and the carefully crafted verse resonate with the reader and humanize the imprisoned children (and adults). I cannot laud Barbed Wire Between Us highly enough, so I will stop here and simply encourage you to read it.
