Diyas at Circle Time is a celebration of tradition. Young Harini is excited to celebrate Diwali at home and tell her classmates about it at school. At their morning circle time, Harini shares her diya - oil lamp - and learns about her classmates' traditions celebrating Deepavali, Bandi Chhor Divas, and Tihar. The children have fun teaching one another about their families' tradition, seeing what they do differently, and finding universal practices. The joy is palpable and the respect each child holds for his or her classmates' different celebrations is a model for inter-cultural peace.
