Circle and Triangle
Written by Mac Barnett
Illustrated by Jon Klassen
Published by Candlewick
Mom's Review
Fans of Barnett and Klassen will love Circle and Triangle. Circle wants to play nice games and thinks reflectively (albeit after reacting strongly and running away in fear from the unknown). Triangle is not particularly kind, but that prompts the reader to consider what type of friend he want to be himself. One particularly appealing feature of these books is that each addresses the reader directly on the final page, asking a thought-provoking question that encourages the audience to sit with the text and consider their reaction to it. The books are funny and deceptively simple with hidden depth.
