A Seed in the Universe is a beautiful chain of increasingly larger related entities. With peek-through pages, young readers can see how each animal, person, or place is connected to the next. And those pages are sturdy enough that little fingers can poke through the cutouts many times over. Expressive animals and warm colors make for a cozy and welcoming book that shows kids how wonderful it is to be linked to the rest of the world, the universe. No man is an island by John Donne comes to mind in reflecting on A Seed and would be a perfect companion read.
