The rosy hues of Charley Mouse Cleans House belie a rather dark and sinister subplot for many of Charley's clients. While Charley works through her maid duties for fairy tale clientele, readers get to explore homes of several forest dwellers, including those of classic villains who harbor hidden horrors. The rich, magical illustrations depict homes filled with curiosities, much like habitable wunderkammern, and are a feast for they eyes. Cameos by figures like Thumbelina delight, as do allusions to folk figures like Baba Yaga. There is a wealth to discover and consider as you clean house with Charley Mouse. This picture book will stay with you after you close the map-papered covers.
