The Matter of the Secret Bride
was a stellar installment in the Useful Woman series, and it is possibly my favorite of the three so far. The mystery Rosalind must solve is the theft of the marriage contract between King George IV and a Catholic woman predating his legal marriage to Queen Caroline of Brunswick. Rosalind's investigation was captivating, and her personal relationships - those secondary storylines - were particularly satisfying to see develop. I read Secret Bride in three sittings. Wilde's writing transported me to Regency London and didn't let me go (not that I wanted to leave, I couldn't turn away from everything happening!). You will need to continue reading this series - it just keeps getting better and better!
