The Souls of Flowers: The lovliest flowers in our meadows and gardens
Written by Pavlina Kourkova and Klara Mandausova
Illustrated by Pavlina Kourkova
Published by Albatros Books
Mom's Review
The Souls of Flowers is an absolutely stunning publication that adults will love and child will be fascinated by. With large-scale realistic water color paintings accompanying brief text that outlines legends, cultural significance, and botanical information, this over-sized picture book offers botony, anthropology, and art in one neat package. I particularly like the "Through the painter's eyes" section where Kourkova tells her experience painting the flower. Furthermore, the introduction where we get to meet Kourkova and better understand her perspective makes the collection more meaningful for the reader.
The Souls of Flowers is gorgeous to look at and fascinating to read.
