Life on the Thames

Mom's Review
Life on the Thames is a treasure trove of biodiversity, history, and ecology. I love how Shoard takes the reader on a journey from the source of the Thames to the sea, examining rare and common species and reflecting on how humans' relationship with the river has evolved over the centuries. Beautiful watercolors accompany text that educates a young audience without being patronizing. Readers get a solid feel for what life (human, plant, and animal) on the Thames has been over thousands of years - albeit with an emphasis on the present day. I wanted to review this nonfiction picture book because it sounded interesting. I am posting about because it is FANTASTIC!
