Okay, can I start with how much I like the fact that one of the artists who dislikes Vincent sticks his tongue out at him? Or the fact that what Vincent chooses to remove from his suitcase to make more room for paint is clean socks and his toothbrush? And I can't fail to mention Vincent's brother's cat who oversees all the letter writing to Vincent? And how about the postman who is allowed to sneeze during his portraiture because of his friendship with Vincent?
Dear Vincent is a very child-friendly introduction to the renowned artist. The illustrations and story invite the reader into the world of Van Gogh. This lovely picture book is a great option for the youngest audience and an enjoyable one for the adults who read to them.
