Mom's Review

As someone who likes wolves and is interested in their North American comeback, I was optimistic about Huw Lewis Jones's latest animal guide. I am impressed! Your child will gain a broad overview of wolves with an understand of many aspects of their lives, like the endangered/extinct status of their species, how their packs are constructed, and their relation to dogs, for example. Questions about high-interest topics are posed and answered in clear language that includes the ideal amount of detail for the elementary school-age audience. The illustrates likewise strike a balance - while not scientifically accurate, they are also not cartoony. You could certainly identify a variety wolf or a track from the drawings. I definitely recommend Are Wolves Afraid of the Dark?
