Mom's Review
With the school year fast approaching, I am wondering how T's opportunities for unrestricted creativity will be impacted. How will his free time be spent, once he must attend school five days a week, full time? Dylan's Dragon tackles this topic. When Dylan has the freedom to play and create, a companionable dragon is his constant confederate. When his days are filled with school work and extracurriculars, however, the dragon – along with Dylan's creativity – disappears. Only when Dylan reclaims his time and freedom does the dragon return. An allegory of over-scheduled childhoods, Dylan's Dragon is a reminder of the joys and benefits of unfettered play. Especially since T is not signed up for any activities aside from school (thanks, Covid?), I trust that T's first-grade experience will foster his inventiveness.

Son's Review
It's about how a boy makes friends with a dragon and when it's time to play, he can't find it, but he finds it again. [I like it] because it's good. I like the pictures.
