Mom's Review
Hello, New House is an ideal book for young children confronted with a change in their living situation. Whether moving themselves, having a new neighbor arrive, or bidding a friend goodbye, this simple picture book reassures readers: while there will be some changes, there will also be constants, like a special blankie, one's bedroom furniture, and most importantly, the people one loves. Not only comforting, Hello, New House also highlights the joy of new discoveries in one's new home.

When T and I chatted about the content of this book, he did not really identify, saying that he could not recall our move from a couple of years ago (has it really been that long?). However, what he did enjoy was reading some of the high-frequency words and also learning two new sight words. Hello, New House uses repetition and fragments, making it easy for emergent readers to find recognizable words.

Son's Review
(Age: 5)
Because there are few words and much repetition, this fit T's reading ability nicely. He enjoyed reading it more than having it read to him.

My favorite part is the puppy; he's so cute. The book's about a girl moving into a new house.

Would it be helpful if you were moving into a new house?
Uh-huh, so you might know what would be new and what would be old.
