Mom's Review
T and I disagree about one thing when it comes to Don't Wake the Dragon. He thinks it a good bedtime story. I think it's too exciting for bedtime!

Interactive and adorable, Don't Wake the Dragon breaks the fifth wall, begging the reader not to wake a cantankerous dragon and enlisting his/her help in quieting down everyone else in the castle. From quieting down a knight's birthday party to stroking the dragon's scales to soothe her back to sleep, readers are invited to interact with the book in a manner reminiscent to Press Here.

I was reminded of Dragons Love Tacos, given that it's a kid&dragon book where the reader is directed in proper dragon treatment. I like this one better though for two reasons. 1. The artwork offers so much more! There is an orange cat to find throughout the castle, and myriad background details flesh out the story for anyone who's willing to look. 2. The storyline is exciting and captures the reader's attention and imagination. Not only are we drawn into the adrenaline-pumping situation of not waking a slumberer, but T was incredibly engaged in each activity. He liked them so much that he reiterated numerous times how fun they were!

T read this several times with his dad before he even read it with me. Now I know why – Don't Wake the Dragon is one you'll want to read over and over again!

Son's Review
(Age: 5)
Before reading:
Don't Wake the Dragon looks neat. It looks like a good bedtime story book.

After reading with Dad several times:
It's good. You'll like it. It has activities. It's also about falling asleep.

After reading with Mom:
It's a good book. My favorite part was the activities like drum on the drum and rock the book.  It makes me think about other books, like if another book from the same person will come out?

What can readers expect?
A bunch of fun activities!

Comments

  1. My 19 months toddler always has excuses for night bed time. She would say something I do not understand with a big smile and big eyes and jump around asking me to dance. She would bring out all the toy cooking stuffs and start frying things to offer. But mostly, she just wants to dance before finally goes to bed.
