Why we chose this book:
This came to my attention via The Children's Book Review. I was interested in participating in this giveaway/awareness tour once I learned of it, I was selected, and so here you go. A copy of the book was provided at my request in conjunction with this blog post.

Mom's Review

No synopsis, as that is below in the giveaway details. Just my impressions on this one.

We've now read Away We Go Land several times and there is something about the artwork that I've been trying to put my finger on. I like it, and as I lay in bed with T, waiting for him to fall asleep tonight, thinking about what I would write once he did, I realized that the style reminds me of a cartoon from childhood. I still cannot recall which, but I think that part of what I enjoy about looking at these pages as I read them to T is that they recall that Saturday-morning cartoon joy of the 90's. It is also possible that they are reminiscent of something else entirely, but the point is that they are fun and do recall the worry-free chunk of my childhood weekend. The story is silly in just the right way: children get to eat cotton candy, ride a dragon, play games, and catch a goldfish on the moon. They can do so when the moon is blue, a rare occurrence, and an aspect of the story that will be sure to have little ones attuned to and curious about the expression "once in a blue moon." This is also a perfect segue to our weekend activities, the Sterling Fair. After reading Away We Go Land, we've added "eating cotton candy" to our list of must-do's at the fair. The timing of this could not be more fortuitous for us. (Those book gods must be smiling on both of us.)

Son's Review
(Age: 3 and 1/2 years)

While reading:
Son: I don't know about a cotton candy tree.

Mom: What do you think cotton candy trees might be?

Son: Built out of cotton candy...made up.

Mom: What would you do if you saw a cotton candy tree?

Son: I would eat some cotton candy from it!

After reading:
Son: Let's read it again!

Mom: Let's read it again, but can you tell me what you liked about it?

Son: I really liked that it was about going places?

Mom: Would you want to go to this carnival on the moon?

Son: So whenever you see a blue moon then that means that the carnival is happening. So if we see a blue moon then, then we should travel to the blue moon.

Mom: That would be fun if it could really happen.

Son: It CAN happen!

Mom, knowing when not to argue: What would you want to do the most?

Son: I would want to get fish.

Mom: When would it be a good time to read this book? Why?

Son: It is a good time to read it when you're gonna travel in a plane. Because it's about traveling.

Mom: Where do the children travel to?

Son: They traveled to a carnival.

Mom: Would you want to go to a carnival? What do you know about carnivals?

Son: Yes. I know that they do a lot of food.
(Good. He knows what matters. Cotton candy, fresh squeezed lemonade, and funnel cakes, here we come!)

Mom: We're gonna do that this weekend.

Son: In this day?

Mom: No. In a few days. What's your favorite part of the book?

Son: Catching goldfish.

Mom: Who might like this book?

Son: Cousin G because the goldfish are orange and G likes orange.

Mom: Doesn't G have a goldfish?

Son: Well I wanted him to have two.
