I could not put Miss Morton and the Spirits of the Underworld down, I read it in two sittings, and now I want to read the other book in the series!
Miss Morton is a delightfully clever and independent companion to a "new money" matron, Mrs. Frogerton. Mrs. Frogerton's visits to a medium lead them to both become embroiled in the investigation when that medium is found murdered. Catherine Lloyd constructs the mystery perfectly - everything proceeds as the reader would like, and this reader did not see the ending coming AT ALL! Not only does the mystery unfold splendidly, but the writing is so vivid that even a couple of weeks after reading, my memory is of seeing what happened. Just the other day, I was thinking, "What was that spiritualism mystery I saw?" It was a second before I realized I was thinking about reading Miss Morton. So captivating and rich is Lloyd's writing that I thought I had seen the whole story!
Miss Morton is a series to follow and this one is a great cozy to cozy up with this season!
