For Easter egg fun.

Mom's Review

The Easter bunny's helpers decorate eggs.

In this secular Easter story, the Easter bunny has three little helpers. These young bunnies compete with one another to design a new pattern for the Easter eggs. The friendly competition results in each bunny finding inspiration in his/her surroundings and all three sharing the final task of decorating the eggs. Warm feelings abound in this short tale. I liked that nature inspired two of the bunnies' patterns; this will be a good idea when T and I are painting. Otherwise, I didn't find this book to be especially special. T really liked it though and was enthusiastic about reading and reviewing it. Just goes to show that an adult's and a kid's take on kids' books aren't the same.

Son's Review
(age 3)

After reading:
Son, pointing to the Easter bunny on the final page: He's driving them to children!

Mom: Yes, he is! Are you excited for Easter?

Son: Yes. And for Christmas!

Mom: What are you excited about for Easter?

Son: Going Easter Egg Hunt at the library!

Mom: If you were the Easter bunny's helper what would your design be?

Son: Pink stuff. Pink bunny beans!
(T calls Cadbury's Mini Eggs "bunny beans.")

Mom: Which helper's design did you like the best? Why?

Son: The stars because I really liked the stars.

Mom: If you could ask the Easter bunny a question what would you ask him?

Son: I would ask, "Why did you paint the stars?" Her! I would ask her, "Why did you get lost?"
(One of the bunny's helpers got lost while painting in the forest.)

Mom: What would you say about her design?

Son: I would say, "I like your design."
