Son's review
And the Trees Stare Back centers around an Estonian teen girl whose sister disappeared. This book was spectacular is all I can say; anything else would be a spoiler. Without spoiling anything, I will say that it is about a forest and an asylum with dark secrets where children often go missing. It is a bit hard to read at certain points due to the sadness of particular scenes. It is very interesting reading about the USSR from an Estonian's point of view. It is actually very similar to Stranger Things, and I made a ton of connections between the two. Altogether I love it and recommend it to anyone who shares my tastes (sci-fi, zombie apocalypses, horror, Lego, Simpsons, and Stranger Things).
