Ink and Shadows Book Review

Ink and Shadows (Secret, Book, and Scone Society #4)
By Ellery Adams
Expected publication by Kensington Books: February 2021

Review
Ink and Shadows is the upcoming book in the Secret, Book, and Scone Society series. Like the previous books in the series, it takes place in Miracle Springs and focuses on Nora Pennington and her independent bookshop, Miracle Books. Supporting characters are more throughly developed, strengthening their relationships and involving the reader more deeply in their lives. Adams expertly weaves together complex, captivating characters, a spooky though believable mystery, and a delightful small town setting into a perfect cozy mystery to snuggle down with on a cold day.

The premise of Ink and Shadows is a new resident of Miracle Springs turning up dead in Nora's backyard on the same night that a grimoire page turns up under Nora's doormat. Several problems pop up alongside the murder investigation, not the least compelling of which is the protest of Nora's Halloween window display. In the spirit of all good amateur detectives, and to readers' delight, Nora can't leave well enough alone, and her complicated life transports the reader from the first to the final page of this rich story.

Ink and Shadows will be out in February, and is a winner for a chilly day. Get a cup of cocoa, light a fire, and snuggle under a blanket before being swept away into the ideal cozy mystery.
