Review
Sing like No One's Listening had my heart pounding. Between the Nettie's grief at the loss of her mother, her friendship with new classmates, a romance with the drama school's superstar, and a feud with an upperclassman, emotions run high. But this YA novel is not just a mess of feelings; it is a gripping narrative of Nettie overcoming her singing-induced anxiety, which arose after her mother's death.

Nettie Delaney is the daughter of a renowned performer and starting her first year at her mother's alma mater. Expectations are high for everyone, but her mother's reputation precedes her, inciting jealousy and contempt. Sing like No One's Listening handles the drama of friendship, romance, and enmity in college in a believable and captivating way. Nettie is a flawed and sympathetic protagonist who gets swept up into a few outrageous situations, but also pulls herself together in a way this reader was satisfied to see. Her best friends have her back, even if her romantic interest screws up a few times. And Nettie's herself is a  thoroughly well-crafted character. In short, Jones does everything right to create a consuming reading experience.

I flew through Sing like No One's Listening  in one day and was left thinking about it for days after.  No spoilers here, but I will say that the ending is so so satisfying.
